BACKDATING....

Soooooooo........... I hate doing this, but I've had so many bits and pieces that I've meant to put on here and its just been waaaaay too long since I last did a proper post so, What the Hell, I'm gonna just do one massive catch up session! This is gonna be some random ass shit y'all!

In the beginning, there was Christmas 2010.....yikes!

So, as with every year, I planned to make many of our gifts for family and friends, and intended to get them all on here straight away, but xmas was so scattered last year that many didn't get their presents until February! What The! Will NOT happen again this year, what a nightmare!! Here are some of the gifties I made...

Made these cute wee birdies following the instructions on this blog 'One Golden Apple'

Made, what seemed like, a million of these LOVE paintings to raise some cash for the Christmas/summer holidays... here is one.... i have seven more blank ones left.... will need to change it up a bit on the next ones to bring back the magic!!

A hot pink mosquito net adorned with purple and paua shell handmade butterflies and a few extra bought ones... little niece Caitlin LOVED it!

Recycling our 2010 retro comic book calender into envelopes of all sizes... heaps of fun; quite relaxing churning them out actually ~ Pepper would agree!!

Made a necklace.... haven't worn yet.... want to change the rope to leather or brass chain...

New Tunes To Share...

I grew up surrounded by music - my fondest memory is of, on sunny summery days, opening up all the french doors in the lounge-room and blasting jimi hendrix, soundgarden, santana, pearl jam or janis joplin out onto the front lawn, where I would lounge on cushions and draw or write or whatever.

My first true opening line to any new person I met, was 'what sort of music do you get into?'. It wasn't a question of what was cool, I just always felt that it helped me to get a better sense of the person. I was so excited to meet fellow music lovers, and could never understand those people who just didn't have a particular sound that made them want to get up, let loose and spaz out whatever kind of dance moves all over the lounge room floor!!

I have always made mix tapes - mostly back when they were actually TAPES, I didn't get into it as much when we all moved over into CD... I used to love making them for my boyfriend or friends, especially my sweet friend Abee; we were pen pals for years and would record some of our letters on tapes, along with any new music we had discovered (I seem to remember mixes of nirvana, pearl jam, pantera, pennywise and bad religion - grungy little bogan punks!)

These last 2 years I have gotten back into making these old mix 'tapes' once again. This time around, I am astounded by my absolute love of 'the new', exploring all kinds of new ways to hear, collect and buy new music. It has given me such an overwhelming sense of my own musical tastes and it constantly amazes me the way that a new track can just give me full body goosebumps, whilst also getting me bopping around my art room!

I have realised that I such have a cacophony of musical tastes, such a massive variety of music that at times I wonder if my mates will think my mix tapes are retarded! I don't care though!! I love it! Here are some goodies that are actually a part or my very overdue 'summer mix 2010-11'..... the autumn winter one is also on its way! Enjoy!

Things I've Made: MILLY'S MAD HATTERS TEA-PARTY

So its been absolutely MONTHS since my last update; starting at a new school has definitely been a huge shock to my '2 years as a reliever' system!! Its incredible how the desire to have my own classroom again overrode all of the memories of late nights, marking books, professional development initiatives, staff meetings, waking up at 3am with some new strategy for dealing with THAT child... the list goes on and on and on and on!

Fortunately I have had a break in the MADNESS, by designing and creating all of the decorations for my 'sister-in-laws' MAD Hatter Tea-party Hens Night! Ironic no?

Not one to shy away from a challenge, I quickly began exploring all of my wildest mad tea-party ideas to create a night that all would remember. With Milly's sister, Jen, doing all of the food, games and other organising, I was free to make anything to suit the theme, so, with a $120 budget I managed to whip up this party of delights in the space of a few weeks - I'm so pleased with the final results and everyone had a blast! I'm hoping that others make request my help for more events like this one!

I thought these 3 tiered cake stands would be perfect to amke for the party - I started collecting a while before hand and managed to find some kick-ass 3 tonne epoxy glue to hold them all together! Worked a treat when serving the sweets; toadstool cupcakes, Lamingtons and Neenish tarts!
